Buddha Birth Day

The Festival

Since 1997, the Buddha Birth Day Festival has become one of Queensland’s most notable cultural events and is recognised for promoting peace, as well as celebrating Australia’s harmony and diversity.

During our 22 years at the South Bank Parklands, the festival attracted over 200,000 visitors per year and grew into one of the largest Buddha Birth Day Festival celebrations internationally. 2020 quickly became the year of disruption as the COVID-19 pandemic hit worldwide, which saw us go digital for the very first time with BBDF on Air.

In keeping with our theme of “Faith and Legacy”, the 2021 Buddha Birth Day Festival is excited to share our faith and continue the festival’s legacy by celebrating our 24th anniversary back home within the serene grounds of Chung Tian Temple.
